Increasing Facebook and Twitter Reach During the Holiday Season
June 17, 2021The holidays are fast approaching, and for online marketing pros everywhere, this is an important time of year. Retail and other customer-facing businesses explode during this season, and digital marketing staffs need to be all hands on deck as they look at separate from the competition and have a successful winter period.
At SEO Werkz, we can help with our wide range of internet marketing services, including everything from web design to SEO, PPC, social media and much more. One common question we get at this time of year: As platforms like Twitter and Facebook deal with decreasing organic reach capabilities, how do you increase brand awareness on these services? Here are a few tips we can offer.
Location Tagging and Search Functionality
If your business uses Twitter as a major social media marketing tool, the fall and early winter seasons are the perfect times to leverage the platform’s location feature. The first step here involves turning on your location setting anytime you’re posting a tweet – this looks like a small map pin on your tweet page. This setting allows anyone performing a nearby search to see your content where otherwise they would not have, and these kinds of searches go way up at this time of year.
Speaking of searches, Twitter has an excellent advanced search capability. To use this, set your location, then add keywords related to your products or services that might be used by others on the platform – from there, you’ll immediately see people near you who tweet about topics related to your business, allowing you to target these users.
Hashtag Use
Some social media marketers badly overuse their hashtags, but the late fall and early winter periods are times when you can be gratuitous in this area. Hashtags like #BlackFriday and #Thanksgiving are enormously popular across numerous social channels, and will help you draw a huge quantity of potential customers. Consider the popular hashtags that relate to your business or products you’re offering, and mix them in regularly with your posts during these months.
Facebook Events
Facebook events are a fantastic way to draw eyes to various parts or campaigns within your business – even if you aren’t planning an actual “event,†per se. This is due to Facebook’s reminder feature, which sends regular notifications to people for upcoming events. This is true even if people don’t directly respond that they’re attending an event; only those who specifically respond “no†to an event will not receive notifications from it moving forward.
Not only this, but Facebook even takes the additional step of promoting this event to others in one of your followers’ networks. It will show their friends, family and even those in their general area that your event is happening – only in this case, your actual event could be something like a sale or promotion. You don’t have to pay for any of these services, so creating events is enormously valuable this time of year.
