Did you realize that every single month, over 1.5 billion users visit and use YouTube? This social network is massive when it comes to the sharing of videos, and this is an area that all internet marketing pros should be capitalizing on within their efforts.

But before you can do that, you have to be able to post YouTube videos to begin with – this two-part blog will go over all the basics for setting up and uploading any files you need if you’ve never done this before.
For starters, you’ll have to log in to YouTube to get things going. If you don’t already have a Google account for your business, this would be a good time to make one – this account can be used for everything from YouTube to Gmail, Drive and numerous other platforms. Choose a unique password and be careful about guarding this information.
Once you’re logged in, getting to the actual files to upload is a breeze. There’s a simple upload arrow button located in the upper right corner of the page, which you just click a single time and are redirected to the upload page. You’ll be given the option to browse your entire computer’s files for the video you’re looking to upload.
Before uploading your video, one of the tasks you have to complete is setting your privacy level. Here are the four primary settings found here:
Public: In this setting, anyone can see your video on YouTube. This allows for your video to be listed in the Videos section of your channel, plus for the video to show up as a suggested option. Most of your brand’s videos should be public, offering you an opportunity to engage, promote the brand, or give your audience an inside look at some part of your business or what you do for the community.
Private: Private setting videos can only be seen by you, the poster, and any users you specifically designate. They do not appear in your public channel and will not be discoverable to anyone else.
Unlisted: Unlisted videos are not private, per se, but they can only be accessed by people who have their specific link. They will not be found on the video section of your page or in suggested views. However, you are allowed to share the link out with any group of people you want – some businesses smartly use this as a way to post “exclusive” content to subscribers.
Scheduled: A setting that uploads the video privately – until a certain date and time, when it becomes public. This allows you to plan out a campaign or series without having to one-by-one.
As your video is uploading, you’ll be able to track the progress on a status bar. Once finished uploading, videos will have to process, which will have a similar progress bar.
